Honest Stories From Mothers Around The World

The power of perspective

It's everything when you are experiencing the challenges of life.

After Pharaoh was born, He and I moved to Indianapolis to be closer to his papa. Although a temporary relocation ( we wanted to continue to shuttle between cities after Pharaoh's third year) I really didn't enjoy the first year and a half in my new city.  Outside of postpartum depression, I loathed everything about this place especially the weather. Not giving this new city a chance was unfair to me and the possible memories  I could have been making with my family.

Indianapolis is pretty quaint for a girl coming from Miami, so at first glance, you don't get to appreciate what it has to offer. After taking a step back and deciding to make an effort and enjoy my time here, I've found so many restaurants and cute little corners in "Hoosier state".  This summer I plan to explore this city and I will share my favorite restaurants and spots for anyone who happens to find themselves here!

The only thing you sometimes have control over is perspective. You don’t have control over your situation. But you have a choice about how you view it.

Perspective has been my new favorite word lately, and it has really made me see life through my own rose-colored lens. I want to have good memories here as his father and I have invested greatly in this city. I want to make sure I am an example to my Sun on how to make the most of every single situation. How to see the beauty in everything and if not, to draw it out for himself. I can only do that if I change my perspective and if I open my heart. Ever since I have done so this city has been quite enjoyable.

When has perspective helped change your feelings towards something? I'm curious to hear!
